Every year the BinG! Harmony College begins with a traditional competition - the Coesfeld Cup.
First held in 1995 in Goch, this BinG! competition has been taken to every new Harmony College "home" and has become a permanent institution in the BinG! year. In honour of the origin of the Harmony College, which was first held as a choir workshop in Coesfeld in 1991, the annual competition was christened the "Coesfeld Cup" in 1998. It is thus the oldest barbershop competition in Germany.
The Coesfeld Cup is as important as the German Championships, which are held every 2 years at the Barbershop Music Festival. The BinG! competition rules apply, every 2 years the competition serves as qualification for the German quartet championships and the nomination of the German World Mixed participant and the medal winners have the possibility to become singers in the BinG! medalist choir "Heavy Medal".
